Unlike many hotels in Shimla, this is a genuinely quiet, serene hotel standing alone on the slopes of the valley. No traffic noise, no light pollution, just incredible views across the valley to the mountains beyond. It's well-equipped, with chalets, rooms and suites, all with great views. You're never away from the fantastic view - there's a rooftop bar and restaurant with huge windows meaning you are always in sight of the vista. There are other amenities - a pool, spa, reading nook, and even a shabby but serviceable billirards table. The pool water was cloudy, and under cover for a few of the days (not a huge suprise as it's cold up in the mountains and the area had just experienced heavy rain). The Spa was also not available. The room was large and well appointed with a great bed and balcony, as well as good A/C. The decor was great throughout, with really interesting art and style choices on every wall. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, without being overbearing, nothing was too much trouble. Generally, service was top-notch from absolutely everyone. We had personal attention from management throughout our stay to make sure we were happy. The food choices in the restaurant are great, and there's an extensive room service menu. All menus offer a range of Indian and global food. When it arrives, it's generally freshly-made, with large portions and great flavour. Filtered and bottled water were freely available. It being off season, the menu choice was a little more limited than the full menu. This was a little disappointing, but not a big deal as the menu choice changed every day, and actually meant that food was served to order, rather than coming from a buffet.
